On Wednesday, May 11, we opened the newly completed Beckstoffer GRAPEGROWERS Barn to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Guests at this free event enjoyed refreshments including hors d’oeuvres from the Model Bakery, and toured our new heritage poultry barn and its newest residents.
This facility is a unique hands-on learning environment for for all ages at Connolly Ranch. The barn offers heritage poultry education, provides more space to increase Connolly Ranch’s programming and activities, and enhances opportunities for visitors to learn where food comes from while experiencing life on the farm.
In September 2015, Connolly Ranch Education Center celebrated the generous donation of Andy and Betty Beckstoffer with a groundbreaking ceremony for the Beckstoffer GRAPEGROWERS Barn. The Beckstoffers named the new barn to honor the legacy of grape growers in Napa Valley. (Read about the Beckstoffers here).
A look back at the barn groundbreaking: Over 300 guests celebrated as we broke ground for Connolly Ranch Education Center’s Beckstoffer GRAPEGROWERS Barn during a special Walk-in-Wednesday in September 2015. The FREE Community Ceremony began at 3:00 pm with with refreshments; 5:00 pm Groundbreaking and at 5:30 pm, a Wine Reception & Farm Tours. We’re pleased to announce the opening date of May 11, 2016.
Construction photos followed construction from slab to completion.
The gift is part of the recently launched Connolly Ranch Legacy Fund, which is focused on sustaining the ranch’s 12-acre working farm and its mission of connecting residents to nature. The Beckstoffers hope their gift will inspire others to support Connolly Ranch as a community resource.
Also, starting the same day was Connolly Ranch’s new weekly after school program, Ecology Play Club, taking place every Wednesday from 12 – 5 p.m. This subsidized program is only $195 for each 6 week session with scholarships still available.
We hope to see you on the farm on Walk-in-Wednesdays!
