In English & Spanish: Day 5: Big Bad Wolf Challenge
The three little pigs need help to escape from the big bad wolf! Challenge your child to construct three houses that can withstand the blow of the bad wolf, using straws, craft sticks and legos!
Come by the Ranch this weekend and grab some real straw for your project as well as a tomato plant grown by Farmer Thom! Just pull up next to the Duck Pond and grab a bag and a tomato plant while supplies last!
Opening Questions:
Do you know the story of the three little pigs?
Why did the first two pigs’ houses fail?
Do you think you can create a house made of straw, wood, and legos that would withstand the blow of the big bad wolf?
Here’s What You’ll Need:
Straws
Craft sticks
Legos
Glue
Scissors
Small Fan
Activity:
Using the materials, create three houses for the three pigs. One made of straws, one made of sticks and the last made of lego bricks. Then, place each house one at a time in front of a fan, turn the fan on and see if “the big bad wolf” can get to the pig, or if your child engineered a house strong enough to withstand the blow!

Actividad:
Usando los materiales, crea tres casas para los tres cerditos. Una hecha de pajitas, otra hecha de palos y la última hecha de ladrillos de lego. Luego, coloca cada casa de una en una frente a un ventilador, enciende el ventilador y ve si “el lobo feroz” puede llegar al cerdo, o si tu hijo diseñó una casa lo suficientemente fuerte como para resistir el soplido.
